Recommended reading from Tim & the scholar team
When it comes to identifying design patterns within Scripture, Tim recommends a few different resources:
- Alistair Roberts, Echoes of Exodus - A shorter, popular level exploration of the Exodus design pattern in the Hebrew Bible and NT, and a short introduction on how to read the Bible looking for repeating patterns.
- Bryan Estelle, Echoes of Exodus (same title, released independently, on the same topic): A more dense and thorough exploration of the same theme as the previous book, with a longer chapter on methods for reading and looking for design patterns.
- Seth Postell, Adam as Israel: Genesis 1-3 as the Introduction to the Torah and Tanakh: A thorough exploration of Genesis 1-3 and how it introduces all the key themes of the entire Tanakh through repeated vocabulary and design patterns. This one is the most detailed and dense of the three books, but it's well worth the investment.
